The Bed Store

Our Story Starts with Granny Pearl...

Roger Cunningham started The Bed Store based on a philosophy of his Grandmother Pearl who would go the extra mile for her customers at her small motor court in the early 1960's. This attitude of tuck continues today.

The Bed Store has been serving East Tennessee for over 20 years and aims to “Tuck in” each and every customer. This concept is representative of the care they take in evaluating each an every customer to find the most perfect mattress option for them and making sure that they are taken care of through the sale and beyond.

Owner, Roger Cunningham says that his “Tuck you in” philosophy was inspired by his “Grandmother Pearl who ran a small Motor Court in Florida and would check in on each of her guests each night to make sure that they were taken care of.”

“She would take her time to make her guests feel extra special. It was such simple things that she did, such as making sure that they had their needed toiletries or taking them home-baked confections before bedtime. All this had a profound effect on me as a child and has become my life’s mission to take care of my customers as well as Granny Pearl took care of hers.”

“We know that buying a mattress can be a stressful experience for some customers so we want to make it as painless as possible. We make sure our showrooms are calming and relaxing. We want to be ready for the customer to help put their mind at ease and let them know that we’re here for them.” says C.J. Ogle VP of Sales and Operations.

They are a company that has experienced tremendous growth in recent years adding locations and jobs to the east tennessee economy. The Bed Store also strongly believes in giving back to it’s community. They support many charities including United Way Knoxville, Susan G. Komen Knoxville and many others.

The Bed Store carries many brands of mattresses but as Roger Cunningham insists that “the most important brand is the customer.” The owners passion and drive permeates the entire company and really puts traction to the tag line, “We’ll even tuck you in.” Over 100,000 customers in 20 years have had the opportunity to experience it.
